WHAT WE DO

Four Ways to Restore. One Honest Paint Approach.

carport gtg3432q4.jpg

PAINT VS. BODY WORK

Paint Makes It Pretty. Body Makes It Right.

Body work is what happens before paint. Straightening panels. Fixing rust. Closing gaps. Getting the foundation perfect.

Paint is what goes on top. Color. Clear. Polish. The reward for all that prep work.

You can't have great paint on a crooked car. We fix the body first. Then we make it beautiful.

WHY IT MATTERS

What You're Really Paying For

Prep is everything. Most of a great paint job happens before the gun fires. Block sanding. Filling. Straightening. That's where the hours go.

Materials matter. We use PPG, Sherwin-Williams, Axalta. Premium products that last.

Experience isn't cheap. 35+ years means we don't learn on your car. We've already made the mistakes. You get the benefit.

No shortcuts. No orange peel. No fisheyes. No "good enough." If it's not right, we do it again.

Our Four Tiers

A7401100.JPG
GOOD – Refresh & Recolor

Budget-Friendly. Quick Turnaround. Surface Refresh.

A "scuff and shoot" paint job is a budget-friendly, quick refinishing method where the existing paint is lightly scuffed (sanded) and new paint and clear coat are applied over it without removing the old paint or addressing underlying bodywork. It is great for fast, affordable color changes on daily drivers or collision work.

What's Included:

  • Surface Prep: Light scuff sanding of existing paint

  • Paint Application: New paint and clear coat over existing finish

  • Finish: Light nib and buff for smooth texture

  • Timeframe: 30-40 hours labor

What's NOT Included:

  • No rust treatment

  • No metal repair

  • No full disassembly

  • No jambs painted

  • Very minimal pre-paint body work

  • Very minimal post-paint prep

Pricing Range:

$10,000 – $15,000
(30-40 hours labor + $3,000-$5,000 for paint materials)

Pros:
Cost-efficient option for renewing the look of a car, truck, or fleet vehicle. Saves time and labor costs compared to full restoration.

Cons:
For classic cars, a scuff and shoot can devalue the vehicle by failing to address structural or hidden rust underneath. Rust trapped under new paint will bubble and fail rapidly.

Best For:

  • Newer vehicles needing a refresh

  • Commercial or industrial fleet vehicles

  • Classics with older restorations simply needing a refresh

  • Projects where budget is the primary driver

Not Recommended For:

  • Vehicles with known rust

  • Classics with structural concerns

  • Projects aiming for show quality

BETTER – Rehab & Recolor

Street Show Quality. Driver-Plus Finish. Moderate Correction.

A "moderate" or "Tier 2" paint job focuses on producing a high-gloss, durable finish that looks excellent to the average enthusiast while correcting moderate body imperfections. This level goes beyond a simple scuff-and-shoot by addressing minor bodywork and disassembling trim, but stops short of a complete rotisserie restoration. Houston Classic Carport is the #1 market choice.

What's Included:

  • Bodywork: Minor dent repair and moderate imperfection correction

  • Trim Disassembly: Doors handles, emblems, and trim removed for cleaner edges

  • Surface Prep: Sanding and priming of repair areas

  • Paint Application: High-gloss, durable finish

  • Finish: Moderate cut and buff for depth and clarity

  • Timeframe: 60-120 hours labor

What's NOT Included:

  • Very minimal to no rust treatment

  • Very minimal to no metal work

  • No full disassembly

Pricing Range:

$18,000 – $28,000
(60-120 hours labor + cost of paint and materials)

Pros:
The car will look great from a short distance and stand out at local car shows. A keen judge might see tiny flaws, but the average enthusiast will be impressed.

Cons:
Does not properly address major rust concerns or hidden issues. Imperfections may be visible on close inspection.

Best For:

  • Fiberglass projects with minimal repair needs

  • Projects with market value under $50,000 (resale to repair value balance)

  • "Show and go" drivers—cars that look great but aren't perfect

  • Owners seeking better-than-average quality without full restoration pricing

BEST – Rust & Restorative

Street Show Quality. High-Quality Driver. Comprehensive Restoration.

A Tier 3 paint job is a comprehensive restoration that goes well beyond a basic respray, focusing on longevity and visual impact without the extreme expense of a perfect concours show car. This level typically involves stripping the car, performing necessary metal repairs, and painting components in sections to achieve a finish that looks great from a few feet away. Houston Classic Carport is the choice.

What's Included:

  • Full Strip: Paint removed to assess underlying condition

  • Metal Repair: Moderate rust correction and panel alignment

  • Rust Treatment: Significant attention to rust concerns

  • Show Blocking: Moderate time dedicated to panel straightening

  • Full Disassembly: Components removed for complete coverage

  • Paint Application: High-quality paint with proper primer and clear coat

  • Final Finish: Extensive cut and buff for show-ready appearance

  • Timeframe: 200-250 hours labor

Pricing Range:

$30,000 – $50,000
(200-250 hours labor + $10,000-$15,000 for supplies + final cut and buff and assembly)

Pros:

  • Moderate metal work to fix rust and panel alignment

  • Ability to win regional car show events

  • 80-89 points on a 100-point scale

  • Beautiful vehicle you can still drive without worry

  • Best balance of cost and quality

Cons:

  • Not concours-level perfection

  • Minor imperfections may be visible on close inspection

  • Designed to be driven, not just shown

Best For:

  • Projects where longevity and durability matter

  • Vehicles with known rust concerns needing correction

  • Owners who want a beautiful driver for shows and enjoyment

  • Investment parameters focused on balance between quality and cost

Important Note:
Some major rust may exceed the timeline and require rotisserie and restomod-level correction. We'll assess during consultation.

Pricing Range:

$60,000 – $135,000
(600-2,000 hours labor + $20,000-$25,000 for supplies + extensive blocking and polishing)

Pros:

  • Unmatched 360-degree access for thoroughness

  • Superior painting quality with flawless finish

  • High-quality metal repair throughout

  • Significantly increased vehicle value

  • 95-100 points on concours scale

  • Flawless panel gaps and perfect paint underneath

Cons:

  • Very high cost

  • Time-consuming (months to over a year)

  • No guarantee of winning national concours shows

  • Requires patience and investment

Best For:

  • Rare exotics demanding perfection

  • Custom restomods where no compromise is acceptable
